My honey and me on Gmundnerberg in front of Traunsee and Traunstein.
Northern end of Traunsee at the city of Gmunden. To the left is mountain Traunstein, and on the right castle Schloss Orth which has been featured in an Austrian TV series.
The ruins of Sayacmarca are in the background. Protected on three sides by sheer cliffs the name means "inaccessible town"
After 10 hours of walking uphill with only a few tea breaks (hey, I'm English!) I made it to the top of Emeishan and was greeted by this amazing statue of Buddha on Elephants. I reached the summit just before sunset but due to cloud cover I was not to see the beautiful sunset I had hoped for. I am told there is only a 1 in 3 chance of having an unobscured view. The climb was well worth the effort despite the poor visability.

This friendly group of Chinese students invited me to join them in climbing Huashan. They were a great bunch of people and made the experience a lot of fun.

This was taken this summer in Banff, Alberta, Canada, in the Canadian Rockies. The strange rock formations in the background are formed because there used to be a river flowing through that eroded away the softer rock, but left pillars of harder rock standing. They are called "Hoo-Doos". Banff is an incredible place to visit. I highly recommend it!
